What is Quivira?
Quivira (kwih-vee-rah) was one of the mythical Seven Cities of Gold that was sought after during the discovery of the New World. According to legend, Quivira was a fabulous city of riches and a tempting, compelling lure of quick wealth for early explorers.
After years of perilous searching across the continent, explorers finally found the City of Quivira. However, what they found was not the land of material riches but rather a modest, humble settlement of strong values, family, and community. Nevertheless, the explorers quickly deemed their journey a failure and the legend a myth.
At Quivira Advisors, we have a different interpretation of a story. Perhaps Quivira was a settlement of immense wealth, not in material means but, in family, community, purpose, and modesty?
Quivira Advisors is named after this legend as a reminder of the perilous temptation of greed and that true wealth is in the eyes of the beholder.
